Animal Hold Policies

Animals may be held for potential adopters under the following criteria:

  1. The potential adopter must have an approved application for the animal in question.
  2. A non-refundable hold fee of 50% of the adoption fee must be paid by cash or credit either in person or over the phone. (Hold fees cannot be accepted via online payment.)
  3. The animal will be held for no more than 24-hours.
  4. The hold fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. This means that if an animal is placed on hold but the potential adopter backs out for any reason the hold fee paid will NOT be refunded or credited towards any future adoptions.

Without an official hold placed on an animal, the River Bluff Humane Society cannot guarantee that animal’s availability. Our primary goal is to place animals in appropriate homes as quickly as possible and they are available “while supplies last.”

We do offer public boarding so if you would like to adopt an animal but cannot take it home you may board it at the Humane Society for a daily fee provided that space is available. You can read more about our Boarding here.
